OAKLAND -- The A's, having already welcomed a new first baseman in Yonder Alonso earlier in the day, officially non-tendered Ike Davis ahead of Wednesday's 9 p.m. PT deadline, making him a free agent.
The move, which was expected, was accompanied by news of the A's coming to terms with five of their arbitration-eligible players: newly acquired lefty Marc Rzepczynski, southpaw Felix Doubront, infielder Eric Sogard and outfielders Sam Fuld and Andrew Lambo.
The A's tendered contracts to each of their remaining seven arbitration-eligible players, though they've yet to agree to terms with Alonso, infielders Brett Lawrie and Danny Valencia, outfielder Josh Reddick and right-handers Jarrod Parker, Fernando Rodriguez and Evan Scribner.
