A’s Matt Chapman gets cortisone shot for sore right hand

MESA, Ariz. - Matt Chapman received a cortisone shot for his sore right hand Thursday and the A’s third baseman believes he will miss minimal time this spring.

“We don’t have a timetable but we feel confident that it will go away and everything will be fine,” Chapman said Friday morning at Hohokam stadium.

Chapman, 24, said he first began experiencing discomfort in the hand in November, but an X-ray performed at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles showed no issues, so he dialed back his hitting work.

After several days of camp, the problem flared up again, so Chapman revisited the clinic.
