Mark Canha was scratched from Oakland’s lineup two hours before Sunday’s game because of a stomach ailment.
Canha said he’d had some stomach discomfort the previous day, but he’d fought through it. On Sunday, he felt even worse. “My head feels foggy,” he said.
Manager Bob Melvin said he’d planned to give left fielder Khris Davis the day off against Washington right-hander Tanner Roark, but with Canha out, Davis went back into the lineup in his customary cleanup spot. Melvin described Canha’s illness as stomach flu.
