BOSTON -- A's manager Bob Melvin said he will wait until Tuesday before naming a starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.
It's likely to be left-hander Eric Surkamp, who made four starts in April before being demoted to Triple-A Nashville with an 0-2 record and 5.59 ERA. The A's have to find a starting pitcher for the Wednesday game because of last Saturday's double-header in Baltimore following a rainout Friday night. Rich Hill was supposed to start that Friday game against the Orioles but was pushed back to Saturday, and Melvin doesn't want the left-hander working on three days rest.
