The A’s made their biggest splash in years on the international free-agent market Tuesday, signing dynamic 16-year-old shortstop Robert Puason of the Dominican Republic.
Puason, a switch-hitting shortstop ranked No. 2 on MLB.com’s Top 30 International Prospect list, will get somewhere around $5 million, according to MLB.com’s Jesse Sanchez.
