A’s lose to Seattle but Raul Alcantara shows big improvement

Raul Alcantara, like everyone else pitching for the A’s the month except for rotation-locks Kendall Graveman and Sean Manaea, is trying to make a name for himself going into next year.

His second start for Oakland will help his cause as Alcantara bids to be in the team’s 2017 plans. Alcantara, knocked around in his big-league debut a week ago, worked 5 2/3 innings Sunday in the A’s 3-2 loss to the Mariners and gave up seven hits and two runs, both earned. Acantara walked one and struck out four.

The A’s, swept in the three-game series, fell a season-high 22 games below .
