OAKLAND -- A's left-hander Felix Doubront will have Tommy John surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Doubront pitched well enough thos spring to earn a spot in the rotation as the fifth starter, but he was hurt in his final tuneup of the spring April 2 against the Giants in the Bay Bridge Series at the Coliseum.The surgery will be performed Tuesday in Cincinnati.Doubront, 28, was 3-3 with a 5.50 ERA last year while splitting time between Toronto and the A's.
