The struggling A’s got some good news Tuesday with the return of Matt Olson, their power-hitting, slick-fielding first baseman who missed the past 34 games due to a broken hand.
Olson was activated from the 10-day injured list and Oakland made room for the 25-year-old by optioning outfielder Skye Bolt to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Olson is expected to be in the lineup when the A’s open an interleague series at home against the Reds.
Olson, who hit 29 home runs and won a Gold Glove in his first full season in the majors in 2018, injured his right hand on a foul tip in the A’s second game in Japan on March 21.
