A’s lefty relief corps may be on the road to recovery

Almost one-third of the way into the season, the A’s have received little but grief from the left-handed members of their bullpen.

Sean Doolittle was on the disabled list until this week, having missed all of spring training and the first 48 games of the regular season with a left shoulder strain.

Eric O’Flaherty has been on the disabled list since May 2 with a left shoulder strain of his own. Before that he’d been healthy enough to appear in just eight games, and his 11.57 ERA and 2.286 WHIP were off the charts grim.

Fernando Abad has been healthy all year, but opposing hitters have been getting healthy against him, averaging .
