MESA, Ariz. - The A’s are losing starting pitchers so fast, their Opening Day rotation is now set, via default.

Manager Bob Melvin said Thursday that Paul Blackburn, the second-year right-hander from Brentwood, is out with forearm tightness and will not be available when the team opens the season next week.

Blackburn, 24, has not yet had an MRI and he was scheduled to see a doctor later in the day in Phoenix.
