OAKLAND — It’s a small step, but it means the world for Jharel Cotton.
The right-hander was in the A’s clubhouse prior to Monday’s game against the Blue Jays with a big smile on his face after completing a session of sock throws. It was the first real throwing action Cotton’s right arm has seen since undergoing Tommy John surgery in March.
“I could see the light at the end of the tunnel, so I’m feeling good,” Cotton said. ” My arm feels good, body feels great, and I’m progressing well.”
Cotton, 26 was expected to be a key part of the rotation this season and was looking like the top starter in spring training, posting a 3.
