MESA, Arizona - Oakland usually has at least two or three switch-hitters, but with Coco Crisp and Billy Burns departing in trades last year, Jed Lowrie is the only remaining A’s player who hits from both sides.
And Lowrie, who is coming off foot surgery and a procedure to repair a deviated septum, is having a heck of a time trying to get enough work in on both sides this spring because the A’s have faced very few left-handers.
Lowrie has two at-bats vs. lefties to date, so the news that the White Sox were scratching scheduled starter Carlos Rodon on Friday was not helpful.
