A's infielder Tyler Ladendorf shows off quite an arm

A lot of position players throw hard, some just as hard as pitchers.

But A's infielder Tyler Ladendorf kind of separated himself from the crowd when he threw a ball 72 miles per hour to first base while seated after making a diving stop on a grounder by Ryan Rua of the Texas Rangers. The play occurred in the eighth inning of the A's 14-5 rout of the Rangers Monday night. Rua hit a shot up the middle and Ladendorf, playing second, dove to make the stop. Realizing he would never get the runner if he rose to his feet, Ladendorf fired the ball while seated.
