A’s held to two hits in 3-2 loss to Rays, winning streaks end

For three days, the A’s got strong starting pitching against the AL Central-leading Indians and they swept the defending league champs.

Monday, rookie Daniel Gossett was mostly solid against Tampa Bay but he gave up two homers and Oakland’s offense consisted of just one home run in a 3-2 loss to the Rays, ending a five-game home winning streak.

Despite coming off the sweep of Cleveland, Oakland’s crowd of 9,736 was the smallest at the Coliseum since May 2, 2011.

Khris Davis blasted his 26th homer of the season in the fourth, but that was the only hit the A’s got through the first eight innings.
