MESA, Ariz. – Kendall Graveman threw two scoreless innings in his second start of the Cactus League Friday as Oakland pinned a 6-1 loss on the San Francisco Giants.
Graveman was more pleased with this start than his first a scoreless inning against the Giants on Feb. 27. His command was better and when he needed a boost, he picked San Francisco shortstop Brandon Crawford off base in the second inning.
“The pickoff was a big one for me,” Graveman said. “Some people watch pitching and all the see is you making pitches. But if you can defend your position you can cut down runners in 31 or 32 starts.
