OAKLAND – Another only-at-the-Coliseum moment unfolded Monday night, as the A’s-Angels game was delayed for 10 minutes as a piece of padding peeled off from the outfield wall.
Angels left fielder Shane Victorino slammed into the wall in left while chasing Danny Valencia’s double in the bottom of the fifth. After that, time was called as one of the pads lining the outfield fence popped loose. An amused Victorino spent a few minutes trying to put it back in place before the pad fell off completely.
As members of the groundskeeping crew worked for several minutes to get the pad back in place, the Angels slowly walked off the field as their manager, Mike Scioscia, conferred with home plate umpire Jim Joyce.
