SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Exactly a week from the A’s departure to Japan for their season-opening series, there’s plenty manager Bob Melvin still has to decide.
His starting rotation might be at the top of the list.
When asked before Thursday night’s game against the San Francisco Giants where in the rotation veteran pitchers Mike Fiers and Marco Estrada, the A’s presumed top two starters, might start the year, the Oakland skipper answered: “We’re still debating that one.”
Melvin also wasn’t sure of who would pitch in Japan – when the A’s play two games against the Seattle Mariners on March 20-21 – or how many starters the team might bring with it to the other side of the Atlantic.
