OAKLAND – The Oakland A’s today named current bullpen coach Scott Emerson as the club’s new pitching coach. Curt Young has been relieved of his duties.
Emerson was named the A’s bullpen coach on Oct. 30, 2014, and has been a coach in the Oakland organization since 2003. Prior to his stint as A’s bullpen coach, he served as pitching coach in Single-A Modesto (2003-04), Single-A Stockton (2005-06), Double-A Midland (2007-11), and the A’s former Triple-A affiliate in Sacramento (2012). From 2013-14, he was the A’s minor league roving pitching instructor.
Emerson began his coaching career in the Pittsburgh organization as a minor league pitching coach from 2000-02.
