With a good-sized crowd on hand Sunday for the final home game of the season, the A’s wanted to clinch a postseason spot at the Coliseum to celebrate in front of their fans. Instead, they’ll have to clinch on the road.

A bad throw by Gold Glove candidate Matt Chapman prevented a potential inning-ending double play in the Twins’ three-run fourth inning, but the A’s shot at clinching was thwarted as much by minimal offense as anything else.
