In celebration of the Oakland Athletics’ 50th anniversary season, the Oakland Museum of California has just unveiled a modest new installation dedicated to the feats of three East Bay natives who played huge roles for the A’s — Dennis Eckersley, Rickey Henderson and Dave Stewart.
Titled “Homegrown Heroes: Oakland A’s at 50,” the display consists of fun memorabilia (Check out Rickey’s game-worn Nikes!), rare photos and video clips designed to help visitors learn more about these former stars.
During a special preview event attended by A’s president Dave Kaval on Thursday, we had a chance to check out the exhibit.
