OAKLAND -- The A's remarkable surge toward a postseason berth hit another big milestone on Saturday afternoon, when the club finished off a 7-1 win over the Astros to pull into a tie atop the American League West with Houston.
Oakland's win not only evened its record (74-49) with Houston's, it established a new season high for the club at 25 games above .500.
Trevor Cahill led the way with seven shutout innings, fanning seven and allowing just one hit and one walk. The A's hit a season-high eight doubles en route to the win.
