OAKLAND — Marco Estrada went on the injured list Wednesday with a lumbar strain, and it’s at least a little disturbing the Athletics weren’t the least bit surprised.
Estrada lasted 3 1/3 innings in Tuesday night’s 9-1 loss to the Houston Astros, giving up five hits (including two home runs), seven earned runs with three walks and a hit batter. It came a week after giving up nine hits and six earned runs in four innings in a 12-4 road loss to Baltimore.
“It’s been bothering me, but I’ve been able to pitch with it,” Estrada said before the A’s hosted the Astros in the second and final game of the series.
