HOUSTON — When Stephen Piscotty was drilled on his left wrist by a changeup from Lance McCullers Jr Wednesday’s 8-3 victory, A’s manager Bob Melvin had feared the worst.
Having already dealt with wrist issues earlier in the season, Piscotty’s wrist was heavily inspected by trainer Nick Paparesta as he arrived to first base in the fifth inning before getting removed from the game the next half-inning. But x-rays revealed nothing was broken in the wrist, and Piscotty even managed to talk his way into Thursday’s lineup for the series finale against the Astros.
“I was worried he might be out for a while by the look of it yesterday,” Melvin said.
