There will be no Brandon Moss reunion in Oakland as the A’s designated their former star for assignment Sunday to make room for left-handed pitcher Jairo Labourt, who was claimed off waivers from the Reds.
Moss, 34, was acquired by the A’s from Kansas City on Jan. 29 in a deal that netted them left-handed reliever Ryan Buchter. The A’s took on a reported $5 million of Moss’ contract in the deal, but even then it was a long shot that he’d stick with the team. He batted .400 (4-for-10) with two walks in four games this spring for the A’s.
