SEATTLE — The Ryon Healy trade brought the A’s promising reliever Emilio Pagán, but Pagán has struggled so much recently that the team optioned him to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.
The A’s needed to open a roster spot for lefty Brett Anderson, who’ll start against the Mariners in the second game of a three-game series at Safeco Field.
Pagán, 26, has a 5.93 ERA and has given up 20 hits including four homers in 13 2/3 innings. He has yielded runs in each of his past six games.
As a rookie last year with Seattle, he posted a 3.
