OAKLAND — The A’s appeared to be setting the stage for some more late-inning heroics, but they were denied a walk-off win for the second consecutive game.
Trailing 2-0 entering the ninth, Jonathan Lucroy brought home a run on a single to right that cut the deficit to one run. But with runners on the corners, Matt Joyce grounded out to first, stranding runners on first and third in a 2-1 loss to the Angels Friday night.
The A’s wasted an impressive performance from young starter Sean Manaea.
With A’s legends in the house looking on, Manaea put together a performance that was sure to garner their approval.
