BOSTON — The A’s officially clinched their third consecutive losing season on Thursday afternoon.
Despite a solid start from rookie right-hander Daniel Gossett, the A’s managed only one run over six innings against Drew Pomeranz and the Boston Red Sox on their way to a 6-2 loss in front of 35,470 who came out to watch a day baseball at Fenway Park.
Ryon Healy connected on his 25th home run of the season, but after taking a 1-0 edge into the bottom half of the fifth inning, the wheels came off and Boston (83-63) scored one in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh inning.
