Ambidextrous reliever Pat Venditte won't be returning to the A's right away after all.
The team claimed infielder/outfielder Danny Valencia off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday, and optioned Venditte to Triple-A Nashville, where he made two rehab appearances Friday and Saturday.
Valencia, 30, gives them a veteran who has played multiple positions over his major league career. He started 27 games in left field, nine at third base, one in right field and one at first base this year with Toronto.
