OAKLAND -– The Oakland A’s claimed right-handed pitcher Nick Tepesch off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers, the club announced Monday. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the A’s designated left-handed pitcher Eric Surkamp for assignment.
Tepesch began the season in the Texas Rangers organization and was 4-2 with a 4.11 ERA in 11 starts at Triple-A Round Rock when he was released on June 4. He was signed by the Dodgers to a minor league contract two days later and went 3-0 with a 2.00 ERA in three starts for Triple-A Oklahoma City before he was promoted to Los Angeles June 24.
