A’s reliever Santiago Casilla picked up a few things from former Giants teammate Johnny Cueto, and it’s entertaining and effective stuff.
Casilla did the shimmy Sunday while pitching to Atlanta’s Matt Kemp and struck him out with a quick pitch, leaving Kemp dazed and confused.
“It changes the timing for the hitter. I played catch with Cueto last year, and I told him I’d do it. I just didn’t know when,” Casilla said. “I wanted to show Matt Kemp something different.”
Casilla said he did it because Kemp has seen him a lot: 20 plate appearances.
