OAKLAND — As the A’s head into the stretch run with a 27.6 percent chance of reaching the postseason, according to FanGraphs, one of the players emerging from the shadows and into spotlight is Mark Canha.
It’s easy to overlook Canha on a team with sluggers Mark Chapman, Matt Olson, Khris Davis and others in the A’s lineup. The versatile Canha plays all three outfields and first base, but he doesn’t have a regular position.
However, now he is tasked with replacing center fielder Ramon Laureano for the next month. Laureano is sidelined with a stress reaction in his right shin.
