CLEVELAND — With Matt Joyce’s recurring back injury forcing him to the 10-day disabled list, the A’s recalled one of the hottest hitters in the minors.
Nick Martini, who signed with the A’s as a minor league free agent this offseason, was called up Saturday morning from Triple-A Nashville where he currently is on an incredible streak of 65 consecutive games in which he’s reached base.
“It’s been pretty crazy,” Martini said. “I’m just trying to have a good at-bat every day and see where I can go.”
The 65 games is a Pacific Coast League record, but it’s nothing new to Martini.
