The A's called up left-hander Sean Nolin, 25, from Triple-A Nashville, getting their first look at a pitcher who has been dogged by injuries this season.
Nolin was one of four players acquired from Toronto in the Josh Donaldson trade last November. Had he not been sidelined during the spring from complications stemming from sports hernia surgery, he would have been in the thick of the battle for a rotation spot.
Currently ranked as MLB.com's No. 12 A's prospect, the 6-foot-4 lefty has enjoyed a solid season in the minors. In 14 games, Nolin sits at 2-2 with a 2.
