When it comes to the MLB replay system, manager Bob Melvin and the A's have a poor record. Their replay bad luck continued against the New York Yankees on Saturday when Melvin was tossed in the bottom of the third inning for arguing a non-reversal that was pretty obvious.
It all started when A's center fielder Starling Marte reached second on an error and then stole third. Yan Gomes then lined a pitch that was snagged by N.Y. second baseman DJ LeMahieu, who quickly threw the ball to Rougned Odor at third.
Third-base umpire Will Little called Marte out when it appeared that the Yankees had doubled up Marte to end the inning.
