A's beat Tampa Bay 3-2 on Billy Butler homer

OAKLAND — Only minutes after Jesse Hahn's pitching masterpiece was spoiled in the eighth inning Sunday, Billy Butler homered to lift the gloom and give the A's a 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Hahn, in his first start since being recalled from Triple-A Nashville, pitched shutout ball into the eighth and departed after 7 2/3 innings with a 2-0 lead and a runner on first. Alas, generally reliable reliever Ryan Dull served up a two-run home run to Logan Forsythe after relieving Hahn. But in the bottom half of the inning, Butler slammed an 0-1 pitch over the center field wall off Rays reliever Erasmo Ramirez (7-8).
