A’s beat Angels 3-1 behind Andrew Triggs, Chad Pinder

OAKLAND — Andrew Triggs survived a rocky start and Chad Pinder supplied all the power the Athletics would need Wednesday in a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels at the Coliseum.

Triggs, 5-2, walked the bases loaded to start the game but gave only a single run through six innings. Relievers Liam Hendricks, Ryan Madson and Santiago Casilla finished up with an inning each as the A’s improved to 16-18.

It was the sixth save in seven opportunities for Casilla.

The only fireworks on offense against former A’s right-hander Jesse Chavez (2-5) came after Mark Canha hit a soft single to right and was followed by a two-run homer to right by Pinder for his second home run of the season.
