On Tuesday, after a monthslong peer pressure campaign by Oakland A's President Dave Kaval, the Oakland City Council passed an inconsequential, nonbinding vote on a Howard Terminal development draft term sheet that Kaval and the A's do not agree with nor accept for reasons that remain unclear.
Starting in May, when A's owner John Fisher gave an extraordinarily rare public statement to ESPN, the organization has pressed the Oakland City Council to accelerate its timelines on a complex proposal that would, if ultimately approved, set the stage for a $12 billion development at Howard Terminal, including a $1 billion ballpark.
