The A’s list of candidates for their 2019 starting rotation just added a new member.
In need of arms with just a few weeks before spring training, the A’s claimed right-hander Parker Bridwell off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels Tuesday.
Much like they did with Trevor Cahill and Brett Anderson last year, the A’s are taking a flyer on a pitcher coming off a poor season with hopes of capturing some value with a bounce-back year. In Bridwell’s case, his 2018 was one to forget as he posted a 17.55 ERA over five games, missing most of the year after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow.
