OAKLAND — The Alameda County Board of Supervisors said it has formally moved to negotiate the sale of its share of the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum complex to the city of Oakland, board members said Tuesday.
Citing the Oakland As’ recent statements expressing interest in purchasing the Coliseum site outright, the board said after a Tuesday morning conference with property negotiatiors that any plan to make the sale and any on-site development requires a single owner.
“Since the City of Oakland ultimately controls land use related to the Coliseum properties, Alameda County believes the best way to accomplish this is for the County to sell its ownership interest in the Coliseum complex to the City,” a board statement released Tuesday evening said.
