Rich Hill's breakout 2016 season has earned the A's left-hander American League Pitcher of the Month honors for May.
Hill went 5-1 with a 2.13 ERA in six May starts, striking out 37 batters in 38 innings. His 2.13 May ERA ranked second among AL starters.
Hill, 36, lost his first start of the month, a 2-1 defeat to the Astros in which he allowed two runs in six innings. He followed that up with 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball against the Orioles before turning in four consecutive quality starts, highlighted by eight scoreless innings against Seattle on May 23.
