The obvious happened. Notre Dame dominated Navy on both sides of the ball. Less noticeable was the absence of former Irish tight end Michael Mayer. That is not to say he will not be missed later in the season, but he certainly was not missed in Ireland. In fact, Notre Dame did not target a tight end at all on Saturday night. Instead, Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman fired the rock to his platoon of receivers and running backs. Hartman finished the game with as many touchdown passes as incompletions. He completed 19 of 23 passes for 251 yards and four touchdowns.
