UConn Is Upset by Notre Dame in OT in the Women’s Final Four

COLUMBUS, Ohio — For the second consecutive season, Connecticut has been upset in the national semifinals of the women’s N.C.A.A. basketball tournament, losing to Notre Dame, 91-89, in an overtime thriller on Friday.

UConn (36-1) has won all of its 11 appearances in the championship game, but the Huskies have sometimes proved vulnerable in the semifinals, where they have now lost to the Irish four times since 2001.

Notre Dame (34-3), which won its lone national title in 2001, will face Mississippi State in the championship game on Sunday night.

Last season, UConn lost in the semifinals when Mississippi State guard Morgan William hit a jumper in the final seconds of overtime in Dallas.
