Two future Notre Dame hockey players heard their names called in the 2018 NHL Draft.

The 2018 NHL Entry Draft took place in Dallas this past weekend and two future Notre Dame Fighting Irish players were among the 217 prospects who were selected.

Incoming freshman forward Jacob Pivonka was selected in the fourth round (103rd overall) by the New York Islanders, and defenseman Spencer Stastney was chosen in the fifth round (131st overall) by the Nashville Predators.

Pivonka, 18, was a member of the Chicago Mission AAA hockey program before playing for the United States National Development Program in Michigan from 2016-18. This past season, Pivonka recorded 20 points in 59 games with the Development Program, and also chipped in two points in seven games with Team USA at the U-18 World Championship.
