First, a Background on Tom Hawkins’ Career
Tom Hawkins, a small forward, played at Notre Dame from 1956 through 1959, and was the university’s first African-American basketball star, collecting 2nd (UPI, NABC) and 3rd (AP) Team All-American honors in his junior season and being named a Consensus 2nd Team All-American in his senior season.
