The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Men’s basketball team (11-6, 2-4) returned to Purcell Pavilion on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, to face the Syracuse Orange (11-7, 4-3). This was the 52nd meeting between the two teams, with Syracuse coming into the game holding a 29-22 advantage in the series. The two teams have a long history, meeting for the first time on February 12, 1914, in Achbold Gym at Syracuse. This match-up against Syracuse was Notre Dame’s third ACC home game of the season. The Irish join Georgia Tech as the only ACC teams to face five conference opponents on the road in their first eight games of the league schedule.
