There are 17 former and current Notre Dame athletes competing at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France.
The first medal winner for Notre Dame (unsurprisingly) came in Fencing (epee) and a Bronze Medal to Hungary’s, Eszter Muhari.
In a bronze-medal match that featured nine ties and required sudden-death overtime, Notre Dame sophomore women’s fencer Eszter Muhari prevailed 15-14 over Estonia’s Nelli Differt on Saturday at the Grand Palais in Paris.
Despite facing a 12-10 deficit midway through the third period, the 10th-seeded Muhari rallied past her 34-year-old opponent, who was seeded 12th.
