Notre Dame’s Durham Smythe After Season-Ending Injury: “For Now, I’m This Team’s Biggest Cheerleader”

The Virginia game was one of extreme ups and downs for Notre Dame tight end Durham Smythe. The junior scored a touchdown on an impressive fake field goal early in the game, but he later went down with a season-ending ankle injury. Durham isn’t getting too down after the injury. Instead, he is going to be the team’s “biggest cheerleader.”

Smythe is one of three offensive starters to go down for the season through two games for the Fighting Irish. Brian Kelly’s team probably can’t afford many, if any, more of those.
