We have had many talented tight ends in Notre Dame's football history:
- One is a Heisman Trophy Winner -- Leon Hart
- One is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame -- Dave Casper
- We have multiple College Football Hall of Famers, who played tight end
- We have multiple Super Bowl Champs, who played tight end
- And, we've had multiple All-Americans & NFL All-Pros who played tight end
However, I do believe it's not a stretch to say Michael Mayer's has had the three greatest 2.5 years for a Notre Dame tight end -- EVER!
