According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Notre Dame legend Johnny Lattner died on Friday night at the age of 83.
Johnny Lattner played at Notre Dame from 1950 to 1953 for another Irish legend in Frank Leahy. Lattner played defensive back and halfback in an era of iron man football. In 1952 he won the Maxwell award and in 1953 he won it again while also winning the Heisman Trophy.
Lattner was always very fond of telling people that he only holds one record at Notre Dame and that was for five fumbles in one game.
