Three Notre Dame legends were placed on the College Football Hall of Fame ballot this week, as new Fighting Irish defensive backs coach Todd Lyght, former WR Raghib “Rocket” Ismail and former LB Bob Crable were among the 73 people named to this year’s ballot.
Lyght was a starter on the 1988 national championship-winning Notre Dame team, an all-American selection in 1989 and a unanimous all-American selection in 1990. This is Lyght’s first year on the Hall of Fame ballot.
Crable, who has made the ballot for the sixth straight time, was an all-American linebacker for Notre Dame during the 1980 and ’81 seasons and is the Fighting Irish’s all-time leader in tackles (521).
